Frequently Asked Questions

Below are some of the common questions we receive regarding classes and workshops. If you can't find what you need, please contact us using the form below.

Are classes running?

Generally, yes. We will contact you via email and place a notification on our Facebook page if a class or workshop has been cancelled. Our instructors run classes in almost all conditions. Whether it is rain, hail or shine, our classes will still go ahead.

What should I wear?

We recommend wearing comfortable clothing  you can move freely in and don't mind getting dirty. Our classes move through a variety of environments including concrete, sand and grass. You will need enclosed shoes such as sneakers for all our classes and workshops. We sometimes wear long pants to provide some protection from scratches.

Is there an age limit?

The age limit depends on the particular class or workshop. Our Saturday classes are open to all students aged 8 years and older. Our Wednesday Night classes are open to participants aged 18 and older. Check information in the event listing prior to booking. There is no upper age limit - we will adjust our classes to suit your abilities.

What do you do in a Parkour class?

This can change depending on the type of class or workshop. A good portion of our workshops and classes focus on foundational Parkour movement. This can include basic vaulting, jumping, balancing and climbing. The only exception to this might be the Adult Parkour Class which can sometimes look at more conceptual movement topics, or more advanced movement. Irrespective of what class you end up going to, our instructors will scale and adapt the content to make sure you're getting the skills appropriate to your level.

What if I can't make it to a class I booked?

Get in touch via email or the contact information provided in the booking confirmation and let us know as soon as possible. Some of our workshops have limited numbers and we might be able to give your place to someone else. Perth Parkour will provide refunds if notified in writing at least 48hrs prior to the event. In special circumstances we may be able to hold your purchase in credit towards a future class. Please contact us to discuss your specific circumstances.

Am I fit enough?

Yes. Unless a class description specifically states a minimum fitness requirement, our classes and workshops are for people of all fitness levels. If you have a pre-existing condition or injury which might affect your ability to participate, please get in touch and let us know. We recommend getting in touch with a qualified medical practitioner for guidance prior to participating in a Parkour class. Our classes run on an opt-in basis for most challenges. If you are struggling or need extra guidance at any time, just let our instructor team know and we'll be happy to help you out

Do you do parties or private bookings?

Due to the volunteer nature of the Perth Parkour Instructors, availability for private bookings can sometimes be difficult. We are happy to consider things like birthday parties, small private bookings, or performance displays however these will need to be coordinated and confirmed with consideration for instructor availability.

Can you do a flip?

It depends on the practitioner. Some of us like to train tricks like flipping, others not so much. In our classes and workshops we focus more on teaching movement fundamentals which will help you build the strength and confidence to learn flips elsewhere should you choose to.

What is Parkour?

Parkour means a lot of different things to a lot of different people. At Perth Parkour we view Parkour as a way of developing your body and mind to move through the environment. How you train Parkour is deeply personal and changes depending on what you'd like to get out of it. In our classes we focus on building strength, confidence and agility so you can smash your own training goals, whatever they may be.
